Kids Daily Challenge – Monday
VBS Home Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday
Kids in Haiti do many chores to help at home. Today, wash your VBS shirt by hand, just as our friends in Haiti do.
In Haiti, almost everyone washes their clothes by hand in large metal tubs. Then, they hang their clothes to dry on a clothesline or simply throw them over some bushes or lay them on the grass. Sometimes the wind picks them up and blows them a short distance. To prevent this from happening, many women like to hang their clothes on thorny bushes! (see photos below)
Parents, please email us photos of your kids doing their daily challenges! Each day, we’ll show these photos on the screen as your kids arrive and depart Outreach Island. There are email links on every page of the Outreach Island Parent Portal.

Each day, a couple of house moms cook, while the others do laundry. Can you imagine doing laundry by hand for 65 people, 6-days per week?!

When the clotheslines are full, the laundry is spread out on the grass where the animals also roam freely. The moms get angry when they see dirty goat hoof prints on clean t-shirts!

These thorny bushes often serve to keep the cows out as well as to keep the clothes from blowing away.
